From afar, I find his honesty refreshing.

I live in a suburb that is all about keeping up appearances. Many people around here are miserable in their marriages but when they go out in public, to the grocery store or something, it is showtime. I just witnessed this at Vons. I bumped into a madly in love couple with the perfect marriage. I left the grocery store wanting to puke honestly.

I know this couple. She had a stroke many years ago. She had nothing but she somehow wrangled this loving, rich husband who just throws money at her. He adopted her granddaughter who he raises as his own daughter. He escorts her to the grocery store and fills up the cart with love. He bought her two dozen flowers, was kissing her hands as he was checking her out and he of course carried all the groceries because she is a waif and can’t do anything for herself. Jealous!

Seriously, if I had Alzheimer’s or some disabilitating disease, I don’t know who would take care of ME. All I can say is that I would love to be the husband in this news article who is confident in his decision making and seems to actually be living his best life. He made lemonade out of lemons and I am not judging him for it.

**Update: the woman in the article with Alzheimer’s just died today. I hope she is at peace now. I guess her husband could have waited for her to pass away, to pursue another woman. People are so impatient!
